Vega$ with Tony Curtis & Robert Urich

Vega$, created by Michael Mann starring Tony Curtis and Robert Urich is a classic from the late 1970s, fondly remembered for its glitzy setting and thrilling plots. Vega$ was one of the first TV shows to use Las Vegas as a central setting, helping to glamorize and mythologize the city for a national audience.

Robert Urich played Dan Tanna, a private investigator based in Las Vegas. He was known for driving his iconic red 1957 Ford Thunderbird convertible and operated out of an office in the fictional Desert Inn Hotel, run by his client and ally, Philip Roth. Tanna often took on cases involving casino owners, showgirls, and mobsters, making him a central figure in both the glitzy and dangerous sides of Vegas life.

Tony Curtis played Philip Roth, a suave and wealthy casino owner who hired Tanna for various investigations. Curtis brought charm and a sense of old-Hollywood elegance to the role, perfectly embodying the essence of a Vegas casino magnate.

The show revolved around Dan Tanna solving crimes that ranged from murders to thefts, often involving the high-stakes world of Vegas casinos. It featured real Vegas landmarks, offering viewers a glimpse of the city’s nightlife, luxury hotels, and entertainment culture. While showcasing the allure of Las Vegas, the show also delved into its darker underbelly, exploring themes of corruption, organized crime, and greed.
