Shirley MacLaine has performed numerous times in Las Vegas, with her vibrant personality and dynamic performances, she was a popular draw in the city's entertainment scene.​ She also starred in several films with connections to Las Vegas, most notably "Ocean's 11" (1960), a classic heist film set in the city, which she appeared in with Frank and Dean.

 

Shirley MacLaine had a close friendship with both Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra. She often shared in their company and graced the stage with them on numerous occasions. Their relationship was characterized by mutual respect and a shared love for performance and entertainment. She later recounted, “I wasn’t part of any sexual innuendo. I was one of the guys.” “By the way, if I wanted to go and do some of the things I was seeing everybody else do, Frank and Dean would say, ‘Don’t do that.’ They protected me. I think they were on some level attracted to me, but they knew better. It would have sacrificed the friendship.” Her performances and social interactions with Martin, Sinatra, and other members like Sammy Davis Jr. positioned her as an honorary member of the Rat Pack.
